"E" Class. - WW1. - 1 photo.
It
is with this class of pre. WW1 designed submarine that "Nasmith, Cochrane,
D'Oyly Hughes, Stoker in the Australian AE2", and many others,
did so much
to lay the foundations for the RN's "offensive" use of submarines
during the ill fated Gallipoli campaign.
In this they were building on the
earlier successes, gained in the "Baltic" against the Germans,
whilst
using the less well developed, primitive almost, "B" and "C"
class boats.
